Huw Irranca-Davies MS and Sarah Muphy MS launch Bridgend Mental Health Pathway Website

SARAH MURPHY MS for Bridgend and Huw Irranca-Davies MS for Ogmore have launched the “Bridgend Mental Health Pathway”, a website that acts as a mental health directory for third-sector and voluntary support groups across Bridgend.

The website has been co-produced with local third-sector and voluntary organisations and can be used by residents to find contact information, social media groups, and details of local activities to get involved in.

Speaking at the launch event, Sarah Murphy MS said:

“At a roundtable last year for Mental Health Awareness week, myself and Huw Irranca-Davies were asked by our community to coordinate a website to improve awareness of services and provide a space for support groups across Bridgend to work collaboratively. The pathway website is simple in that it puts all services, from support for unpaid carers to men’s mental health, in one place.

Every aspect of this project has been community-based. From those who came up with the idea, to the web design, we even have Stronger Together Bridgend who have created an album to promote the Pathway– it’s very much made by the community, for the community.”

  Huw Irranca-Davies MS stated:

This has been a fantastic collaboration between community groups across the County Borough. Across Ogmore, there are many support networks that are working every day to tackle loneliness and isolation. The Bridgend Mental Health Pathway website is another way of making access to that support easier for those in our community.

The Welsh Labour Government has committed to making mental health a priority, investing in an additional £100 million. As Members of the Senedd, we also want to make sure that community groups and support networks are given the funding and support to be able to deliver their service.

We hope that this project is a positive step in creating that collaborative approach across the County Borough. I and Sarah will continue to work together to ensure that services also get the funding they need.”

This week marks Mental Health Awareness week 2022.
